Maidstone I remember it well: I was born in Shepway Maidstone in 1957. I came from a large family with 3 older brothers and one older sister and one younger sister. I first went to school at Shepway Court Infant School in Derby Road. The head mistress was Mrs Goodband. I cannot remember many of the children but I do remember a girl call Linda who had polio. I often wonder what became of her. I then went to St Francis in 1964 while Holy family was being Built and went to Holy Family September 1965. Holy Family will be 50 years old this year. I remember when the school opened it did not have many pupils. I think there was about 50 children. I often wonder what became of the class I was in. I remember the Vinten twins, Geraldine Nolan, Christine Arnold, Patricia Green, Theresa Campbell, Eileen Fay, I must be showing my age as I cannot remember every one. I then went on to Sacred Heart Convent for 2 years and then went to St Simon Stock. Mote park was probably my playground when I went out with my brothers and sister. There used to be sheep and cattle in the park in those days. We often went over to Willington wood and to Otham where we went scrumping apples, plums and pears. I heard many stories about the caves in mote park but I think they were blocked of by the time I did my exploring. We used to make camps in the woods behind the Mansion. I remember fields with ponies in at the back of the mansion. Its a Park and ride now.
