United Kingdom Maidstone I remember it well: I can recall the captain , He could often be found in the ship pub at the bottom of gabriels hill he was a double amputee but with no false legs he would get from his chair into the ship un aided . Can anyone recall the shop at 109 upper stone street circa 1952 - 1962 .and the to become famous lad that worked there in 1958 - 1961.

Yes I also thought it was Chas Arckles was a warehouse a tyre place now went there for work experience but they did not want me.

109 Upper stone Street, on the left hand side going up was a long single storey workshop. this was I think Chisolm's service and repair shop. Across the road on the corner of Campbell Road was a shop that was where Chisholm's kept their used for sale bikes. Used to look enviously in the window as a 13 year old pupil of Southborough School (1957) hoping to one day get inside. Regards Mike Smith
