Maidstone I remember it well: I went to the Technical school which was partly held in the heads house. We went there for homecraft. Cleaning, ironing etc. I suspect we were used to keep the place clean.
I worked at the paper mill at Aylesford in the RCC Offices. Travelling backwards and forwards, as I did to school, on the train. Which was nearly always full.
Market day in Maidstone was always popular. What a joy it would be to have a market like that today. We used to spend spare time walking along the river to Allington Locks and popping into the local pubs.
My father was a member of the APM cricket team and we used to go all over at weekends with the team. APM had very good grounds in those days.
