Maidstone I remember it well: I learnt to swim in the 'old' pool in 1949 under the guidance of the Maidstone Swimming Club and I'm still a member. The pool Superintendant was Ernie Lusher who also coached up-and-coming Club swimmers on Saturday mornings and Wednesday evenings. He had coached MSC and played in goal for the water-polo team. He left Maidstone about 1957 or 1958 to the Heston area. I believe he was fed up waiting for the new pool which I believe had been expected in the mid 1930's. I still live in Maidstone.

Don't think he would have been pleased as the pool is a few feet short of the Olympic size.
