Maidstone I remember it well: I know l threatened to stay away Les but l just took a peek and saw Billy Ivy mentioned, Don Chisholm l knew quite well as l was always in the shop in upper Stone Street getting bits for my bikes. Billy died on the 12 July 1969 and l will never forget because it was just before l did the DJ world Record at Biddenden.
I remember Billy with an Ariel Square 4 l think it was and also a 1000 Vincent at Brands Hatch, but one Saturday afternoon l remember Billy turning up outside our house on the new Honda Monkey bike, l think Chisholms were the first shop to have them. Whilst reading these posts another name came to mind "Roy Francis", so anyone remembering him can say what happened to him.
I promise(almost) l will stay away until after Christmas!, Regards to All.............

Roy was in partnership with Paul Smart and their shop was in Lower Stone Street near the junction with Mote Road and Knightrider Street. Not sure if he still around as the last time I saw him was about 30 years ago
