Maidstone I remember it well: I was wondering if anyone remembers the barber Cyril Short, who had a shop up a little side street opposite the Maidstone baths, I use to knock around with his step-son Raymond Smith, he had a 1/2 Brother, Richard short and a sister called Susan Short (I think) we use to play in various places such as the market and along the river bank from Smythes(& Drayson) wood yard up to Allington, from a very young age with out any danger of predictors, Raymond's family use to live up the hill from the Tovil Railway footbridge and I lived in Hart st, where Pickford's warehouse now stands I attended St Michael s infant,& junior schools and then Westboro' secondary. 1st job was at Handwell Optical work Bower place for a year I then joined the Maidstone goods offices and a messenger boy going round the town on foot telling customer's that their goods had arrived, with many breweries on route I often arrived back at the office an bit tipsy, ah such memories

Hello David, I remember old Cyril Short Back & Sides, what a character. Whatever haircut you asked for, it would always be the good old Short Back & Sides.
