Maidstone I remember it well: Good grief. A good few names I remember coming up here. Went to St Francis from 1957 to 61, (Mr McPartland was Head) then the Boys Tech where Ron Voice ruled. Delivered lots of newspapers along Upper Fant, Bower Lane, St Michaels Rd, Whitmore St, etc. Saw John O'Shaugnessy mentioned above. He was goalkeeper for the school I think. Think he lived in Prospect Place. Used to buy our bike bits from Charlie Wallis's bike shop in Tonbridge Road. He also sold gun cotton which we used to make all sorts of incendiary devices and small explosives of Sodium Chlorate. I remember Pia's coffee bar. Also trolley buses. Saw the last one ever. 1965 I believe. .

the Maidstone system was a small one, with just two routes, and a maximum fleet of only 24 trolleybuses. It was closed on 15 April 1967
