Maidstone I remember it well: Does anyone have memories of Willington Woods? I grew up in Shepway near them and have fond recollections of playing and walking there in the early 1960s. I also remember exploring the Willington Woods caves with some friends, and can picture myself squeezing through them and doing a semicircular exit. Dangerous, but that's what young kids do. I don't think they were natural caves but excavated for building material, like the ones in Mote Park. They are now part of someone's back garden. I also remember that there was a gypsy style caravan in the Woods near the Otham turn off. Don't know who lived in it. There was a tiny stream than ran through the woods too. Have been back a couple of times over the last few years. A sad remnant exists. Stream dried up. A case of gone is gone forever.

Les Swaffer Yes I also grew upon Shepway and played in Willington Woods really Called Senacre Woods. also played in Park Wood as that was Woods too. Also a bit of Wood between Sutton Road and Gore Court Road (the Otham turning). We called it Beaver valley.someone had see a Walt Disney wild life film with that name.
The stream is still there I remember when we first found it it had dried up but after a bad winter when the snow thawed it appeared .
If you go through Senacre now it's at the bottom of the Valley in Wooley road and you can get to it behind the shops.
Old Tom lived in the Caravan had squatters rights.
