Maidstone I remember it well
So many happy memories of my first 20 odd years in Maidstone (1946 - 1966). I'm in touch with Richard Harvey via F/B. We both went to Hill Place School up the London Rd in Queens Avenue and his parents (John & Hilda) were Landlord/lady of The Queens Head beside the Cannon - whatever happened to that ? I spent many a happy day at Oaklands Golf Club where my father was Captain for a while. Bonfire night there was really good and so was the sledging etc down into the quarry. Is there a way of getting in direct contact via this site with people we remember ? Peter Harvey (whose father was my dentist) was a friend and near neighbour when I lived for most of my Maidstone years at 538 Loose Rd where my father (Dr. Alan Warren) had his surgery. I would often wander in to the waiting room which was our dining room at the weekend and chat with patients. I was even asked to help my father out in the surgery at times by holding a dish in place while he syringed a patient's ears !! Can't imagine that happening today !! My father would be smoking n his surgery while working !!

Desmond, I went to Hill Place School in 1955 through 1958, I was a boarder as my Father was in the RAF. Could not find too much on the internet but came across your post on this site. Much has happened since then I emigrated to the USA in 1965 and now live in Raleigh North Carolina. I was reminiscing and saw that the school has close and it seems to be called Shernold School. I hope you get this post and we can correspond. Stephen Hughes
