Maidstone I remember it well:
Its amazing just how many names are familiar to me that are on this site trouble is I usually can't place a face to the name!! A bit of history for you now I was born in South Park maternity wing it was a wooden hut then thru my infant years lived in Mangravet with my Grand parents then Dad returned from the war he was in the Air Force and we moved to Squatters huts in mote park.
I can remember catching the 109e M&D bus from the bottom of weavering street (On my own at age of five !! and attending All Saints at Knightrider St eventually we were allocated a council house brand new in Dorset Way Shepway there were roads adjoining where I found most of my mates Dorset Way Brian Sayers and Dave King who became a minor celeb in pop music and Raymond Trigg,Terry Osbourne Victor Fellows Ken Lamb Robert Bullock Barry and Linda Jefferies Helen Bouchat Madeline Friar Peter Thurgood Jimmy Spearman (Spearmint)and Geoffrey King
Firstly I went to Plains Ave Infants then Shepway Court Derby Rd in my class was Peter Goldsmith or Golding and Alan Hart of TV presenter fame, Naomi Lee (My first crush !) Then for some reason I went to Oxford Rd school I think it was because we moved to South Park Rd.
Eventually I went to Oldborough Manor School which was about 1.5 miles walk from home and used to call in on mates on the way to school so we could walk in together I was a latch key kid as very often parents were working I lived near Martin Norley and we used to play together, my best mate was Peter Stroud. I'll try to submit a school class photo dating back to 1954...and identify most classmates. Who will hopefully be attending the Reunion on September 7th at Malta Inn from 12 noon onwards.
I think enough of me for a while as it wouldn't those who don't recognise names and places much. Les your doing a great job!!
