Maidstone I remember it well: I attended West Borough infants, juniors and secondary schools from 1951 to 1962 when i left and joined the Royal Navy. I have terrific memories of all three and i have been back to the Juniors and Mr Day was still teaching there he taught my sister and brother,Marilyn and Roger. I was in Detling house and was house captain played football, stool ball and athletics, Mr Jolly took that and Mr Polson lovely lovely people went over to the big school and spent a wonderfull year in Oakwood House Mr Hogarth(a true gentleman although he did cuff me around the ear once but i definitely deserved it.We then had Mrs Loyd domestic science teacher another lovely lady, in fact apart from the odd one or two most of the staff were good in particular Mr Dimond i treasure my book that has his name it was awarded as the Headmasters prize. I think my most memorable day was when i was made Head Boy i just could not believe it, Mr Dimond said to me that it would be a good idea if i got rid of the drainpipe trousers which i did and my mum got me baggier ones which was a good start for when i joined the Navy.I left school in Feb 1962 i was supposed to have stayed in the 5th year until the end of Summer term to take GSE'S a first for a Sec.School. We had our first re-union 4 years ago at Oakwood House organised by Ann Kingshott brilliant they have had a get together every year since the really special one will be next year our 65th birthdays.Sadly some of our dear friends have passed on. I recognised one of my old friends name Phillip Wood not a West Borough but a St Francis he lived near me in the Prefabs on Gatland Estate, his Mum was a lovely Maltese lady.
