Maidstone I remember it well: I remember Motley Hall being taken over by some Scottish bloke and changing its name to the Hop Inn? then it was taken over by a different brewery, greene king I think. It was changed to a music/sports bar, but then went downhill rapidly after the boss left & the last I heard it had shut down altogether,ANYONE know why?

The Papermakers Loose Rd. was the 1st. pub I ever entered. My grandmother lived next door & the landlord Who I think was Mr Russell had a large rocking horse in the back room. I remember being lifted on to it. I was about 5.Strangely enough I was a fairly regular customer in the 70'S when Les Chapman & his wife Ivy were mine hosts--They had moved there from the White Horse (or Red House) in Boughton Monchelsea--another of my favourite haunts.Les was an ex-policeman & knew how to run a pub properly.I went to school with his son Ivan who became a very successful policeman.
