Country: Canada Maidstone I remember it well: I dont have a memory but my mother had one of hop picking in East Farleigh.....does anyone out there have pictures to share of this. Was there only the one farm; can anyone name it. She said that she can recall going there late 30's early 40's even during WW2.
Sue this is Kent there were lots of hop farms. The first port of call for you should be the Maidstone museum. They have a wonderful selection of old pics. Best of luck Peter Capon

Best of luck Peter Capon Sue/Peter - I remember going Hop Picking in East Farliegh the farm overlooked the river and the furthest corner from the oast house was near the old Barming Wooden Bridge. Hopping was an annual activity we were coached in from Chamberlain Avenue across the river near Barming/Tunbridge Rd. The daily coach ride very early morning and back again at end of the day was very social with lots of singing, songs you don't hear any more, She'll Be Coming Round the Bend, Roll Out the Barrel, Going down the Garden eating worms, Happy Days
