Maidstone I remember it well: Hi Les, hope you got my birthday wishes for yesterday on FB. Your reference to floods in Maidstone I'm sure there were floods much earlier in the 60's!! I remember the duckboards the Army put up as well as physically carrying women and children from one side to the other. I was still at school and was still at school and 62/3 sort of springs to mind. I left the Tech.(Oakwood) in 1966. In 1967 I was working in Canterbury before moving to Bristol in 1968 and I'm still here. Almost a 'local' now!! As has been on here before D.J.Stubberfield has some amazing photos of Maidstone and is well worth a look (I think that might be what we say in Bristol!!). I also bought a book by Irene Hales which has photos from about 100 years ago complimented by as near as possible the same view from this century. The book is simply called: Maidstone Through Time and is delightful. Lastly it's really good to see the "Stones" are doing so well since their move back to the town. My dear friend Trevor Miles would have loved that as would his Dad Ron too. Glad to see lots of "New" names coming forward Les.
