Maidstone I remember it well: My father - Dr. Alan Warren - was a long term member of Maidstone Golf Club and Captain for a while back in the late '50s. The 9 hole course in Bower mount Road has now gone. I well remember that for a number of years they had an annual dance at Tudor House Hotel and got Victor Sylvester and his well known Band Orchestra to play for the evening. My father was amazed that the band cost £60/hr to hire !!
Maidstone I remember it well: Back in the '50s/'60s a wage of £20/week would have been pretty good so to have to pay Victor Sylvester £60/hr (even though there were probably 20 players in his orchestra) was a lot of money ! Maybe by 2063 a standard salary will be at least £200,000/year !! I'll let you know when I get there !!
chasruler: My Christmas Wishes to all friends and site members, special Thanks to Les who holds it all together. I hope that 2017 will see all of us in the Very Best of Health. Happy New Year.

Shaun Scannell: Terry McKenna - Brian Hampshire used to work for the GPO / BT. He moved to somewhere in Devon, probably around 1980. I met him at a meeting or seminar once. His sister Pauline was in the Maidstone area.

msmith13: Sad to see no mention of the passing of Dave (Bill Kent) Kingsman. Remember him on a flying visit to Southborough School when his record was out. Also enjoying him at the Plough in Langley years later.
