Maidstone I remember it well: I lived in Maidstone from 1969 when I first got married until 1972,we lived in Longfield Place, Sutton Road. I worked at Tilling Stevens to do with Chrysler cars I think, in the office, the lorry drivers used to come in and get their paper work for their deliveries. I remember the smell of the Sharps toffee factory as I walked to work! I did various temping jobs in the area and also worked at Bowater Scott and Kimberley Clark in the office.I remember Fant lane Maternity Hospital where I had my first son, what a lovely place it was, quite a strict routine but that was good. They taught you all the little things that help when you have your first baby, how to do a 'Terry nappy' sterilizing bottles etc. I have lovely fun memories of it. I don't know how soon after 1971 it closed as we moved away in 1972. A few years ago we popped into Longfield Place to have a look after we had come back through the tunnel from France. I look forward to reading this site again soon
