Maidstone I remember it well:
Born in York Road in 1951 and know Maidstone quite well as moved to Willington Street, went to Molehill Copse, Southborough Girls and then to college, and worked at Midland Bank in High Street.
Used to walk everywhere - no cars in the family until much later in life! Dad worked as projectionist at Granada and then electrician at Rootes. Mum was hairdresser at Maison Jeans in Gabriels Hill and Nan worked in Yorke House Gabriels Hill. The sausage machine was a wonderous thing. Stuffings in the High Street was a sawdust on the floor butchers, Harwoods the butchers in King Street, David Gregs, Murdochs, Timothy Whites, Littlewoods -Mum in law , Joan Sharp worked in Littlewoods andlives in Plains Avenue.
Her sons Kevin and Nigel. Kevin and Dad Charles worked at Passmores in Tovil, and Nigel spent his time in Maidstone and travelling the world. Many of the places have rekindled memories of old haunts around the town, long forgotten. Nan and Granded Brooks lived in York Road and when the County Show arrived, the iron fence uprights could be removed to let me crawl through and get in for nothing!
The Mano, St Philips Youth Club, Howard De Walden - boyfriend's Mum, Mona Lynn helped run it
Roger was involved in the crashed fire engine in Hayle Road in the 70's.
Had a happy youth with bikes and scooters, Barry Carter, Colin Ashby, Jeff Lynn, Keith Cook. Graham Sephton, Clive and David Potts, Steve Farrow are some names and some I still write to. Married Kevin Sharp in 1980 and he is an Oldborough lad. Anyone wishing to get in touch? Would be great.
Somebody wanted to get in touch with Joan,Kevin and Nigel Sharp. Cant find page 30. Can anyone help?
