Maidstone I remember it well: I went to The Elms School in the London Road from 1956 until its closure in about 1962.I travelled in from home in Sittingbourne by bus and later by train from our new home in Sevenoaks. Maidstone in those days was very much a country town.I remember the smell of brewing that covered the town when Fremlins were beer making. And the trolley buses that ran around parts of the town in their brown livery. The Elms School uniforms were brown and red hooped caps with a metal cap badge and a brown jacket with red piping to the edges
