In the Medway towns there does not seem to be any border signs and Charles Dickens wrote in Seven Poor Travellers'If anyone knows to a nicety where Rochester ends and Chatham begins it is morethan I do' along the high street there is/was a pub called the Northforland and was said to be half in Rochester and Half in Chatham
