Maidstone I remember it well: First things first: Jim (Yarwood)!! Yes I really did finish ALL 3. Not only that, after the 3rd one I went straight to Frittenden football club and played 90 minutes and on the Sunday afternoon I played for Tekkol AND scored a hat-trick!! It would probably take me a week to walk 50 miles these days!! Didn't use Pia's coffee bar too much cos of those ROCKERS!! The Cheese and Grill was our preferred coffee bar in Week street (or any pub in my case)!! Trevor, myself, John Sarjeant and Ray Farmer also played snooker, table tennis, 5 aside football and 10 Pin Bowling in Chatham. Another favourite pastime was of course the "Girls" at the Howard De Walden youth club. Didn't have your "Maidstone Set" cards; just had to rely on my good looks and charm!! Lol. In the "bad" weather Trevor (Miles) and myself would spend hours in Trevor's dad (Ron) shed trying to listen to Radio Luxembourg on an old VALVE radio when we could get reception!! The Dansette record player was meant to play 8 records (45's) at a time but rarely did!! Some times I even managed to do some homework!! And of course we went to the pictures TWICE a week. We always found something to do. Nick (Who's surname escapes me and who lived in Wheeler Street) used to look after the welfare of those magnificent shire greys (He was the blacksmith at Fremlins) had a passion for racing steam (Yes Steam) lorries somewhere near Paddock wood and I used to shovel the coal for him perched precariously on the back!! My mum made the sandwiches and he provided the beer!! The snooker and table tennis were played at the Old Civil Service club in King street at the end of Albion Place and then at Springfield Kent Council club. My dad Mac was very good at darts and I used to play if they were short in the Greyhound Pub team!! Oh happy memories.
