Maidstone I remember it well: What a truly fascinating site this is! So many places and people, that even if you didn't know them personally, it is all about Maidstone. I was(am) a Barming Boy until I left in 1971 to get married, and there is not too much about that locality, despite the memories of the Longleys shops and of course Lampards bakery. Between these shops was the newsagents known as Wellers and even many years later, the shop was still known by the same name long after the original proprietors had moved on. Oh, the hours spent on the Heath playing football (the "coats for goalposts" days with people like John Webb, Dave Leek, Dave Hooker, Dave Brown, Paul hackney, Brian Horton etc etc. Do I remember a café in Heath Road just a couple of doors along from the Duke or is that my imagination? Mr Milligans shop at in St Andrews Road sold penny lollies. Another shop at the top of Farleigh Lane and all this when Beverley Estate was just an orchard...... And what of all the people who attended St Andrews Church when Keith Chare was the Vicar. The Rulers from Farleigh lane, Barry Rose, all the Comforts from Bramble Close, Carol Sunnucks. Jean Wells, Ann Pettit, Irene Shepherd, Jane Gibson. The longer I sit here, the more names come to mind. keep up the good work on this site

Shaun Scannell: Terry McKenna - Brian Hampshire used to work for the GPO / BT. He moved to somewhere in Devon, probably around 1980. I met him at a meeting or seminar once. His sister Pauline was in the Maidstone area.

msmith13: Sad to see no mention of the passing of Dave (Bill Kent) Kingsman. Remember him on a flying visit to Southborough School when his record was out. Also enjoying him at the Plough in Langley years later.
