Maidstone I remember it well: Hello sir I started working for Don and Bill in 1958 cant recall the month Ivy boy started 2 weeks later . I have probably got his leaving date wrong after Bill no longer worked at the shop he rode the Hanah Honda but worked on the bike at the shop with Don and Bills permission . Also to the cause of the fatal accident the Jawa did lock up it was a 2 stroke in its infancy and was prone to eating crankshaft oil seals this it did on that terrible day causing a weak mixture and seizing a piston bill was going back to the paddock he was pushing up his goggles as the motor locked so no chance of grabbing the clutch. Bill was thrown onto a low wall and died a short time later. R.I.P. William David .

Maidstone I remember it well: I remember riding with Bill Ivy in 1960 when he had a Triumph Tiger 100 with a sprung hub suspension. I had a Norton 600, Bill Ashton had a 500 goldstar, and you had to ride like the wind to keep up with them. I also remember Bill racing 50cc Itoms, I think for Chisholms, I think it was 1967 he was killed.rip Billy

Maidstone I remember it well: Hello all. Its me again if I am boring you just say and I will shut up. I have put my thinking head on and in fact I started working for the Chis bros in late 1957 as did Bill at that time I was not old enough to hold a M C licence . Bill was the same age as myself ( I am now 72 )it was the Chis itom that bill started racing on later he raced the sprung hub triumph and could better a good number of the lads that rode the pucker racing hardware of that period ie manx Nortons 7r ajays etc . I am pretty certain that Bill died in 1969.myself I hae been very fortunate I still ride motorcycles but have always landed light. Ok does anyone remember Jack Dryland ( market street garage ) or Jack goldings second hand anything shop known as mad jacks in sandling road not far from the east station .Finaly are there any ex B C E plant louts out there.By for now
