Maidstone I remember it well: Hi Doug. I'm not sure if you are still looking for anything regarding Maidstone Zoo and the narrow gauge railway. I have a photo of the opening of the railway by the Mayor of Maidstone who owned the zoo and some famous actress who's name escapes me, doing the honours on that. day of it being commissioned.

Freddie Burgess
Maidstone I remember it well: To Les, Gert & Daisy were Elsie & Doris Waters & their brother was Jack Warner as you rightly said played Dixon of Dock Green. The ladies lived in Steyning West Sussex which is 2 miles from where I now live

Yes that's what Freddie was talking about, the elephants were named after there stag names of Elsie & Doris Waters as they opened the Elephant House. apparently they were annoyed by having the Elephants named after them. But being comedians they my have been joking.
