Maidstone I remember it well: Hello everyone
My first time on here so i was wondering if anyone have any pictures of Boughton Monchelsea Quarry's Maidstone. I remember from a kid i used to spend apart of school holidays at boughton Quarrys, i should really think my self lucky i'm alive or still walking, from the climbing, looking back now it was quite dangerous, but them days was not a big issue on health a safety.
I remember next door to the quarry's there was skinners farms, i use to go with my mum when she did strawberry picking.
All my child play days were all around Boughton, & otham i was born in Park Wood Maidstone.

Hi,
Skinner's Farm only grew Strawberries, Raspberries, Gooseberries and Apples. The Hop Gardens were on Chambers Farm which is now a Golf Course and other things off the main road to Headcorn. I also played through those woods and sometimes used the swimming pool that was off Brishing Lane in the valley near the quarries. Regards Mike Smith

Do you also remember the remains of the Roman villa by the stream near the buildings of the quarry
I don't remember the swimming pool though.
