There is a fellow named John Warner who has posted on the maidstone site talking about going regularly to the snooker room over Burton's tailors in week street. I joined the army in early 1960 and every time i came home on leave i used to always bump in to a guy every one called Fritz. He didn't work so was always round maidstone , and used to take me up to the snooker room when i was home on leave. I never knew his real name , but he was a very likeable and popular guy and every one called him Fritz . He was tallish , slim, had a ring in one ear ( might have had 2 later) big blue eyes , always smiling. I'd love to know if John Warner knew him in the snooker room, as i'd really like to know if Fritz is still alive. He used to go up the snooker room and cadge fags off the guys he knew who were up there playing snooker. I never really knew him but used to meet him in maidstone every time i came home on leave and i really liked him. My girl friend used to work in Peggy Tylies in middle row.She used to be with me sometimes when i met Fritz . I married her and .she remembers him also . We'd both love to know is he still about. .

Peter the Fritz you may be thinking of could be Fritz Goodrum who used to be about the town in the early sixties. We used to get down the wall that was opposite Rootes petrol station , on our motorbikes. He got fed up with the drunks who were sleeping in the summerhouse in the gardens behind the wall, they had covered themselves in newspaper, so he went & set the paper alight. They all ran out of the summerhouse never to return have lived in West Sussex since 1967 so know nothing about him since Fred Burgess
