Maidstone I remember it well: Hello everybody I could not let this occasion go by without offering my own contribution after 60 years of the Queens Diamond Jubilee.
On 2nd June 1953 all the children in Maidstone were either given a Coronation Mug/Spoon It must be remembered that this was 1953 not 1952.
At Mote Park, anybody who had received a ticket from school could go to Mote Park and receive a "box of cakes".These cakes were in a box of 6 and children were presented with some great quality cakes. The cakes were made by Lampards.
I remember going in with my ticket(which you had to redeem when you had received your cakes)
Unfortunately they never took my ticket, so, I went around for another go. Great stuff.
This was 59 years ago and the cakes were delicious.
Lampards Unique!!
Best wishes
Les Huggins
I missed out on this we watched the coronation on TV somewhere around the top of Buckland hill a big box about the size of half a sideboard with a 9" screen

Im a bit too young to remember the celebrations in 1953,but Im sure my dad would have been pleased to know his cakes were much appreciated!
