Maidstone I remember it well:
Hi Ken Allen cannot remember any business near hunts scrap yard. The Fortune Of War pub was on corner of Old Tovil Rd,next to that was the off licence in Stone St. Bill Smiths chippy on other side of road opposite was a car park,a garage and then telfords bakery. Can you remember Rouses fruit and veg that was next door to Jackson and Smiths warehouse. Same side of road was The Brenchley Arms, further down was Frouds chippy, The Pilot pub,The Model Shop,a newsagent, and the posh O K cafe, and this was Wrens Cross on the junction with Stone St,Knightrider St,and Mote Rd.If you didnt know, the Cricketers pub in Mote rd is now shut. Another pub bites the dust.
Just in passing what was the name of the shop selling clothes, they hung various pieces of clothing outside on pegs. Very near the model shop I believe. Peter Balldock's still have a shop in West Malling.
